Q – What is the idea behind the Blake series?
A – The Blake books are supernatural thrillers with a dash of romance. I try to mould that moral fibre inside the heart of all my novels

-The susceptible young mind lost to alcohol and drugs features in The Blake Curse
-The detrimental effect of childhood psychological trauma is depicted in The Blake Mistake.
-The Blake Legacy A Fracture in Time deals with peer pressure, intimidation and that desperate search for an exquisite type of pure love, a love untainted by monetary gains or sexual intentions, a love for the sake of love itself.
I try to raise awareness...whether I succeed to do this in all my novels remains debatable, I guess, but the intention is there.

A - Week of Lies is a Christmas romance and thriller set in London and it spans a fateful week of lies and deceit. The opening chapter takes us to New Year’s Day where Beth Banks wakes up to find her father dead in their multimillion pound house in London. It appears to be a suicide, but Beth has her doubts. She looks back on her previous week, her introduction into the cryptic world of Rob Menezes, the righteous law graduate desperately seeking a living, the man she has grown to love and trust despite his many facets. She sets out in search of the truth and she uncovers a dark secret that could radically change her life.

This is a good story, but I have to say it twists around almost too much and makes it a bit hard to follow. I think most who hang in there though, will enjoy the story.Product details

Camilleri did an exceptional job building the plots and subplots in this story and generating a vested interest that makes the reader want more. I can't wait to read the next chapter of the series. The characters are deep and you won't be able to put this book down until you know what happened to Maria and Josh's relationship.
This book is difficult to classify - it has aspects of both romance and suspense novels, which will appeal to fans of both genres. Long story short, this book just has a great story line and great characters; elements of any great book, regardless of genre. Go out and get this one. You will love it!
This was a valuable freebie; I loved (and sometimes hated) the characters. The story involved ESP, a ghost, violence and mental illness. It was certainly a meaty tale that involved me from beginning to end. I enjoyed the journey and intend to order the sequels.
As an avid reader I am cursed with the need to finish a book once I have started reading it... Unfortunately. This novel was inconsistent with the character profiles. I think the writer bit of more than she can chew and the span of time covered was overwhelming and in the end the book was drawn on and sub-par. I normally do not read books of this genre but took a gamble and lost.. BIG TIME. I wanted to like it but the plot and characters just fell short for me
I loved this story. It's well-written, as well as full of exciting content and sub-plots. In addition to that, the characters are realistic and Josh and Maria's romance story is really unique as it is anything but typical. This book is a roller-coaster, with unexpected twists and turns and a character of its own - and that is a rare achievement nowadays. The childhood background, dreams, ability to change the future and the inescapability of fate, as well as the actions taken by the characters, add a philosophical touch to the book, as they serve as a perfect example of what a human being is capable of and why.
SORT OF SPOILER ALERT I'd also like to say that I liked Josh a lot more than Maria, as I often felt her treatment of Josh was anything but fair. I often felt bad for him and found myself thinking he deserved someone better than her. That said, the end was satisfying enough to calm my frustration.
I highly recommend this! It'll be worth your while. Four plus one, that's right - I give it 5 stars. =)
Really one is too many stars for this book. I couldn't finish it. I have never read a book with such unlikeable characters, men and women. I didn't feel a connection to any of them. The story just gets worse and worse until finally you just don't want to know any more and just don't care. With the horrible things that happened to the female lead, I had no sympathy. This is how unlikeable a character she is. The males fare no better in behavior and likability. One whiny wimpy guy with a "vision" and one just detestable. Maybe it has a happy ending, but guess what I don't know and could care less. It was relief to stop reading it.
I have found the old truism, you can't judge a book by its' cover to be true - most definitely in the case of The Blake Soul by I.C. Camilleri. The writing, plot, characters, pacing, dialogue, imagery, settings, just about everything showed the skill of a very talented writer. The cover does not represent the excellence of the novel.

This is a dramatic story of love and hate, an extremely dysfunctional family, MPD ( Multiple Personality Disorder ), kidnapping, torture, violence, seduction, and psychic ability and even a helpful spirit.
The first few pages were not abundantly clear, but very soon after, I was riveted to the story of Maria and Josh. Josh has to be on of the best protagonists that I have seen. I have to admit, there were times where I wanted to slap some sense into Maria. She can be so frustrating at times. Freddie was perfect in his role, so was Phil. Clearly the author has a lot of experience with women. You will have to read the book to find out what that means.
Bottom Line Very exciting, thrill ride of a book. So good, just don't look at the cover. Thumping Good Read. Highly Recommended!
Overall I'm giving this a 4 star rating but I'm struggling a bit with that as 3.75 might be more appropriate. This was a difficult one to initially get into but, once I gained a handle on the authors concept, the story flowed fairly well. The characters are an interesting mix of weird, selfish/selfless to downright certifiable but it does make for an entertaining read. As a freebee I would recommend giving it a try as its one of those you will either love, hate or just give up on. Would I buy it? If it was of a seriously low price I might but I've had the benefit of reading it now lol. Will I buy the next in the series? No, I admit I will not. Some stories grab you, others don't and this one is of the latter. The one thing that let it down was too much sexual content that ruined the realism ~ normal people just don't act nor breed like mice on Viagra! However, its a stand alone novel with a happy ending , written well and with strong insight and worth the rating I've given it.
